ABOUT ME
Qualifications and Affiliations
He graduated in Medicine from Sydney University in 1994 and trained at Westmead hospital and Concord Hospital. He achieved his research qualifications from Sydney University back in 1987 as a National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Research Scholar. He then undertook his post doctorate research studies abroad at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota USA. He was also an executive member of the Obesity Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (OSSANZ), and a founding member of the Obesity Management Network for the RACGP.
Research and Innovation:
He has written and published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He was a principal investigator of a number of international clinical trials investigating new weight loss therapies; the now approved vagal blocking therapy (VBLOC) as a weight loss therapy device, the para-gastric implant and the Attune self adjusting gastric band. He is an invited speaker at local and international scientific conferences. Given his broad background in research and medicine he is committed to helping patients achieve best outcomes in terms of weight loss as well as in improving and resolving many of the co morbid illnesses associated with obesity.
